A rent ledger is the month-by-month record of rent charged and rent received for one tenancy — the document housing agencies, courts, lenders and your next screening call all ask for. Banks don't keep one for you; a bank statement is every transaction you have, not a per-unit rent roll. This one fills in online, saves in your browser, exports to CSV, and prints as a clean document.

What goes in a rent ledger
One row per month: the rent that was due, what was actually received, the date it arrived, and how it was paid. A partial payment stays visible as a shortfall instead of disappearing into memory. Keep one ledger per tenancy, and keep it current — a ledger reconstructed from memory the week you need it is exactly as convincing as it sounds.

Why not just use my bank statement?
A bank statement mixes rent with everything else across Zelle, checks and transfers, and shows when money settled — not which unit and month it settled. A ledger is the per-tenancy view: due, paid, date, method, every month.
What's a rent ledger used for?
Tenants need them for housing-assistance applications and future rentals; landlords need them for taxes, disputes, refinancing and evictions. It's the document both sides wish existed the moment there's a disagreement.
Can RentChime keep this ledger for me?
