Rent-day reminder texts

Rent day, handled by text.

Your tenant signs up through a link you share (their number, their choice), RentChime reminds them before rent is due, and logs their PAID reply in your ledger with a receipt — so the asking is done by the system, not by you.

The problem

The worst part of rent day isn't the money. It's the asking.

Every month, most small landlords run the same manual routine — and resent every step of it:

"Just copy and paste from a doc so it looks like it's automated."— advice landlords actually give each other in landlord forums (2026). They fake an automated system by hand, because a reminder from a system lands fine — and a reminder from you reads as nagging.

1 · Share the link

Your tenant signs themselves up before anything sends.

Add the tenancy — property, rent, due day — and RentChime generates a personal onboarding link you share with your tenant however you like.

  • Your tenant enters their own number and verifies it with a one-time code; if they never open the link, nothing ever sends
  • STOP ends everything instantly, START brings it back — their choice, always
  • No app for tenants to download, no account for them to create

2 · Remind

The reminder comes from the system, not from you.

A few days before rent day, the text goes out — polite, even-toned, identical every month.

  • You pick how many days before rent day it sends
  • Late? The late notice and the fee math are one approval away — sent in writing, by the system
  • Fees checked against your state's cap and grace period

3 · Record

Every month lands in a ledger you can hand to anyone.

The PAID reply flags the month; you confirm the money arrived; the row writes itself.

  • Receipt texted to your tenant the moment you confirm
  • One row per month: due, paid, date, method — timestamped
  • Export to CSV or print for taxes, court, or a refinance

Not legal advice. RentChime sends reminders, notices, and receipts. It does not process, hold, or transfer rent money — you keep collecting rent exactly how you do today. It is not a collections service, it is not a substitute for the formal notices some states require before an eviction, and it is not legal advice.

Common questions

What if my tenant never opens the link?

Then RentChime never texts them — that's the whole design. Consent comes from the tenant entering and verifying their own number; no link, no messages. You'll see the pending status and can keep handling that tenant however you do now.

Do my tenants pay for this, or need an app?

No and no. Tenants never pay RentChime anything and never install anything — it's ordinary text messages. Standard message and data rates from their own carrier may apply, like any text.

What happens when a tenant texts STOP?

All messages to that tenant end immediately, and you're notified so you know reminders are no longer going out. They can rejoin anytime by texting START.

Does the PAID reply mean the rent is actually paid?

No — it's a tenant's flag, not a bank confirmation. You confirm the money arrived the way you always do, then log it, which sends the receipt. RentChime records who said what and when; the paper trail is the point.

When does this launch, and how do I get in?

Texts go live once carrier approval clears — we won't send a single message before it does. Early signups go first and lock in the launch price: join the list on the homepage and we'll reach out in order.

It's like a property manager who only does the one job you hate.

For less than one late fee a month, the asking, the reminding, and the record-keeping stop being yours.
