What RentChime is

RentChime is a reminder and record-keeping service for landlords: a rent-day board, a rent ledger, date reminders, and — on paid plans, once live — rent-related text messages to tenants who opt in (rent-due reminders, late-rent notices, payment receipts). Free calculators and letter templates on the site run in your browser.

Accounts

You sign in with an email link; keeping that inbox secure is your side of the deal. You must be 18+ and use the service for rentals you actually manage. You're responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, and for sharing each tenant's onboarding link only with that tenant.

The SMS program

Tenants opt in themselves: they open the onboarding link you share, enter their own number, and verify it with a one-time code — no messages are sent without that completed consent. STOP ends all messages immediately; HELP gets help. Message and data rates may apply; frequency varies with the reminder schedule. You agree not to use RentChime to harass anyone or to send anything outside the rent-related purpose tenants consented to. Full program terms: SMS Terms & Consent.

Plans and billing

The ledger, board, and date reminders are free. Paid plans are flat monthly prices by unit count, billed through Stripe. Early-access pricing is locked for as long as your subscription stays active. Cancel anytime from Settings → Manage billing; you keep access through the period you've paid for, and your data (and its CSV export) remains yours either way.

What RentChime is not

RentChime does not process, hold, or transfer rent money. It is not a collections service, not a party to any lease, and not a law firm — templates, calculators, and state-law pages are general information, not legal advice. A tenant's PAID reply is their statement, not a bank confirmation; confirming that money actually arrived is yours to do.

The honest limits

We aim for the service to be reliable, but carriers delay texts, email lands in spam, and software has bugs — so RentChime is provided "as is," and our total liability is capped at what you've paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Don't rely on any reminder service, ours included, as your only safeguard for a legal deadline.

Ending things

You can delete your account by emailing support@rentchime.com (done within 48 hours). We can suspend accounts that abuse the service or the SMS program — consent abuse is the one thing we have zero tolerance for.
